Congressional candidate Dr. Vanila Singh, the Republican running in California’s 17th District, issued the following statement this afternoon in response to the announcement made earlier today that SCA-5, the highly controversial proposal to allow for racial discrimination in college admissions, will not be heard in the California State Assembly:

“Over the last few weeks thousands of activists in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area rose up against SCA-5.  Their efforts resulted in a great victory today as the Democrats were forced to back down from their effort to change the California state constitution and repeal parts of Proposition 209 that guarantee fairness in college and university admissions.

“The fight for fairness is never over – we must continue to be vigilant and elect leaders who value fairness and believe our laws must be applied uniformly and without favor.”
